I have been reading The Lamb's Supper by Scott Hahn for the past couple of weeks. Mr. Hahn discusses how his ideas in this book are not original. However, the way in which he explains everything so that someone like me (with no theological training) can somewhat understand these concepts comes across as quite original to me. I'm not pretending that I have completely processed everything in his book thus far. It is packed with information that a person needs time to digest. However, I am certain that the content of this book can be life-changing!
What I don't understand is why these wonderful truths are not taught in our religious education classes. Or were/are they? Was I not paying attention?
I think that when I was in high school, I would have loved to talk about the "weird" book of Revelation and how it is describing the Mass.
I have heard that things are changing in Catholic education. If what I have seen from Catholic radio is any indication of what is happening to the entirety of Catholic education, then I wouldn't be surprised if high schoolers today DO know that the priesthood and the Liturgies of the Word and Eucharist are biblically supported in the book of Revelation.
Anyhow, I included this book on the blog, because I think this is a very important writing. Because of Mr. Hahn's book, my understanding of and participation in the Mass will never be the same! I can't imagine what this world might look like if most Catholics read this book.
